Art direction, brand development, and 3D illustration for Syncsmith by Birmingham-born-London-based designer David Gaskath a.k.a cyrk studio, who comments: I worked closely with Syncsmith to develop an experimental brand that could reflect the global diversity of the artists and adapt to a range of genres including neo-classical, techno, ambient, and grime. The result of the deep exploration resulted in a 160-page ‘Opus’ as an unconventional brand book for Syncsmith.Limited to 100 copies, and beautifully printed by Generation Press on four different stocks from GF Smith with a holographic black foil block by Foilco, the brand book’s choice of font is Arthemys Display Light from Morgane Vantorre. Arthemys’ sharp letterforms act as a cut-throat contrast to the illustrations, photography, or stand-alone instances whilst also making use of its elegant ligatures throughout the identity.
Syncsmith is an agency globally providing futuristic, avant-garde electronic sound design and music to the fashion, film, and advertising industries for clients including BMW, Nike, Burberry, and Gucci.
