What is desktop licensing?

Fonts are available to use on your computer to create images and documents for print and screen. This license covers the use in programmes where you can create an output, like Adobe’s Creative Suit, Sketch, or Microsoft Office. For example, this license is required for creating printed documents and logos. Desktop licensing is calculated per computer the files are installed to within a single organisation.

Type Department works directly with organisations to create custom license arrangements between them and the seller to cover uses beyond those described above. For more information, please contact us.

What am I buying from you?

Type Department sells and distributes fonts that belong to independent brands and individual creatives. Generally speaking, fonts are pieces of software which you are purchasing the license (the right) to use within the rules established by our licensing agreements.

Licenses

Our licenses are designed to (currently) cover Desktop licenses for typefaces. That being said, if for some reason your intended use is not covered by our licenses simply email us and we can arrange a custom license. Just like other software, such as the Adobe Creative Suite, licenses are purchased according to how many people will be using the software. 

Licensing Terms?

The End User License Agreement (EULA) contains the legally binding terms for using the fonts bought from our website which all our sellers have agreed and approved prior to joining.

Are there any additional terms I should know about?

With every purchase you make, the download will come with the fonts licensing agreement. If there are any additional terms, that are not mentioned in the EULA, they will be specified in that agreement in the file.

Are there any recurring costs?

No. All of the standard licensing types offered on this website are one-time fees.

What is your refund policy?

Due to the fact that what you’re purchasing is a piece of software, which we cannot verify if you’ve used, deleted or not used, we therefore do not offer refunds apart from the reasons described in our licensing agreements. If you cannot use fonts for technical reasons we will work with you to solve these problems, if cannot assist you further then we offer a refund.

Please contact us initially and we’ll put you in contact with the right seller if that's what you need. If it's something we can help with, a member our team will be reply to your email as soon as they can. 

Installation

After the typeface files have downloaded to your computer (Downloads folder), open Font Book, select all the files and drag them from your finder window into Font Book. 

Shipping

Parts of our product catalogue need to be physically shipped. You will get a notification when your order has been placed, then another when it has been shipped with tracking details if that's the shipping option you have chosen. If your order has not arrived then simply send us an email and we'll do our best to track it down for you.
