Talona combines traditional and modern inspirations to construct this display typeface."The main idea of the design was to take a classic drawing from the Didot and apply an oblique contrast axis and long serifs" says creator Ethan. To take a relatively modern design and carry the influence of a traditional tool, the broad nib pen. Through conducting research with the nib, this allowed the design to become clearer with the serifs following the tool’s path, which explains their asymmetry.
Mainly designed for titling it also works pretty well in mid-sized body text.
Named after to the shape of asymmetrical serif that can feel like heels, it also refers to the explorer Jean Talon, second steward of « The New France».
